2019 Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be played in England and Wales from 30th May. The competition will see 10 teams fight it out for the coveted prize. The format bears resemblance to 1992 Cricket World Cup played in Australia, where all the teams were placed in one single group. With this format, each team will play each other once in the round-robin stage and the top-four teams will make it to the semifinals of the competition.
The International Cricket Council has declared that a total of $4 million will awarded to the winner of this year’s Cricket World Cup. Ten-warm up games will be played from 24thMay till 28th May in order for all the teams to prepare adequately for the showpiece event. Host England are favorites to win their maiden World Cup at home. The side led by Eoin Morgan have played exceptional white-ball cricket in the past four years and will be determined to end their trophy drought in home conditions.
On the other hand, Australia has been the most successful team in the history of the competition with five trophies to their name.
Reigning Champions have shown resurgence in their limited-overs cricket this season as Aaron Finch managed to win one-day series against India and then Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
India will be also looking to lift the coveted trophy for the third time. Virat Kohli-led unit have covered all the bases for this year’s World Cup and managed to select a well-balanced squad for the tournament. Surely, the side will be relying on their big players to deliver the goods in this World Cup.
